HOW DO I KNOW WHAT AGE GROUP TEAM MY CHILD IS ON? The age group season matrix is based on the birth year only. This is independent of the birth day or month, which does not matter in relation to which team you join. Your child will be on the team that corresponds to their birth year only. Here is an age matrix breakdown for this season:
U6 = 2019 born (some 2020 born players are OK pending coach evaluation)
U7 = 2018 Born
U8 = 2017 Born
U9 = 2016 Born
U10 = 2015 Born
U11 = 2014 Born
U12 = 2013 Born
U13 = 2012 Born
U14 = 2011 Born
U15 = 2010 Born
U16 = 2009 Born
U17 = 2008 Born

FIRST OFFICIAL CLUB PRACTICE DAY. Here are the first official practice days for each age group:
All Premier (Travel) Teams: Tuesday, January 7th
All U8-U18 Divisions: Tuesday, January 14th
U6/7 Divisions: Tuesday, January 21st
PRACTICE DAYS & TIMES. Our practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting between 4:30 - 5:00 PM (depending on your individual Team/Coach) at the Grove Farm Fields in Puhi (Behind Harley Davidson). Practice end times vary as well. Please check with your coach in the specific Ollie App age group for your child's start/end times.
TEAM COMMUNICATION. Our main form of communication day-to-day, updates, time changes, meetings, etc is all done via the Ollie app. Here are the link to download the Ollie app for your convenience: https://www.olliesports.com/download
NEW PLAYERS. We ALWAYS welcome new players to evaluate and join our Ohana at any time, even after the start of our season. If you know of anyone interested, please have them pre-register online via this link: https://www.poohala.org/soccer/preregistration
Please note: All players will go through a minimum two-week evaluation period by the coaching staff. We coaches do our best to place the player in the best position to learn, grow, and succeed. Even if it means only practicing and not playing weekend season games until the player is able to compete at the level required.
VOLUNTEER COACHES. We are short volunteer assistant coaches this season and always looking for new parents to step up and help. No coaching experience is required! If you are interested in helping out on the field, or know of anyone interested, please have them reach out to our Club Director, Guga Tosi at guga@poohala.org or 808-346-3604 right away!
TEAM UNIFORMS. Uniforms must be purchased on our online store directly from our provider and shipped directly to you. Go to https://www.poohala.org/store and click on the "Soccer Merchandise" option. This season, the following will be the required uniform that each player must have:
U8 and Up players:
Black Team Game Jersey
Black Team Game Shorts
Black Socks
Any plain black long soccer sock is acceptable as long as it is all black.
**All game jerseys have a number on the back. You will need to CONFIRM your number with your coach BEFORE you order your game jerseys.
U6/7 players
Black & White Po'ohala training T-Shirt (Given to each player their first season.) *Additional shirts can be purchased
Black Shorts (Any plain black shorts are acceptable as long as they are mostly black.)
Black Socks (Any plain black long soccer socks are acceptable as long as they are all black.)
Most returning U6/7 players were given one black OR White Practice/Training t-shirt their first season with Po'ohala. If you did not get one, you will this season. Parents can purchase any extra training shirts directly from the club or from our provider via the link above.
Keep in mind that it takes about 3 weeks for items to arrive so you'll need to order ahead of time to have the required uniform before the first game on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
GAMES
(U8 Players and Up)
In the SPRING Season, games are on SATURDAYS. The times vary from 8am to 4pm. We post the game schedule as soon as the League shares it with us. They usually don't give us the game schedule until the Tuesday or Wednesday evening before that Saturday's game. Again, we will post as soon as we get the information from the league. We appreciate your patience.
(U6/7 Age Players)
The U6/7 age division does not have regular weekend games like the U8 and up age divisions. This is because the League does not have a U6/7 competitive division. Po'ohala is the only club on Kauai that trains a U6/7 division. We want players to develop their love and knowledge for the game before they turn 7 or 8 years old, thus allowing for a successful transition into competition. We do a fun inner-club tournament (Jamboree) at the end of the season and award medals. Jamboree information will come out throughout the season
CERTIFIED REFEREES. Each season the League has REQUIRED all clubs/teams to bring in ONE certified referee per age group. Teams that don't have a certified referee attached to the team, will not be able to compete. We had one referee course a couple months ago and the league is now working on scheduling a second one for anyone else willing to help.
The league pays all referees for each game they ref. If you are able to help out or know someone who is, please email guga@poohala.org
SPAIN SOCCER TOUR JUNE 2025. Our Spain Tour/Camp is available to all Po'ohala players and their families. Non-Po'ohala players are also welcome, pending an interview with
Po'ohala Club Director and the Spain Tour Director.
Travel Dates: June 2nd - June 21st, 2025
Location: Barcelona, Spain
Cost Estimate: 2,900 Euros
Price includes: Lodging, transportation, 2 meals per day, multiple training sessions per day with local teams/players, guided historical/soccer site visits, and much more! All players are responsible for flights to/from Barcelona, Spain. A non-refundable deposit of 500 Euros must be paid to the Spain Tour Director by March 1st to secure your spot! REGISTRATION DEADLINES. Once your player has gone through their "tryout" period and they have been selected and are committed to playing with Po'ohala, you will need to complete the TWO part registration process (which will be sent to you after tryouts) for this Spring Season by the deadlines below.
U8-U18 Divisions Deadline: Sunday, January 26th
U6/7 Division Deadline: Sunday, February 9th
IMPORTANT NOTE: For a U8 and up player to be eligible to play in the league's first game on Saturday, February 22nd, BOTH parts of the registration process MUST be completed by Sunday, January 26th. Any registration completed after this deadline means the player will only be eligible to play the first game of the season. We will be sending a detailed registration email to all parents immediately following tryouts and commitment.
